Castle in the sky

I learned so many new shapes and functions in Rhino this week! It was a lot of fun and it definalty evolved my initial castle design. I was finally able to create those beautiful organic shapes I've been looking for by using the Polar Array and Rotate tool. I was going for this futuristic Blade Runner meets Lord of the Rings elvish looking castle. Most if not all of these shapes orginated from the "make these shapes" exercise. By using the, Join, Extrude Curve and Loft tool I was able to create my starting point.

From then on it was a frenzy of combining and cutting out shapes. Definatly had a lot of fun with this one. While it may not be your typical castle it still maintained an interpreted version of the key elements i.e Towers, Pavillion and surrounding structures.

Cutting out the windows proved to be a bit difficult, it was a lot of trial and error to make sure the shape was solid to be able to cut into it with another.

The door on the towers also took some brainstorming, ultimately the rotate and copy tool proved to be the best option.

I also did some research and found out how to use the Record History tool that helped me alter multiple shapes at the same scale.

All in all I'm pretty happy with this project, I definitely experimented a lot which enabled me to learn so many new tricks.
