The Meshmix Castle

Getting back into Rhino was frustrating. I wish I had taken more notes in my last class to remind myself how I created all the organic shapes that I loved.

I initially wanted something more organic but began running into trouble, remembering how to extrude curves into solid shapes. None the less the result was a mesh mix of Roman Japanese and Gothic cathedral Castle—hopefully the beginnings of possibly something great.

The design began with the side towers and, from there, transitioned from the roof onwards.  I knew I wanted the Gothic pillars with the curved building on the head but couldn't manage to correctly Boolean Union the post and crown.

After the pillars were complete, I wanted to create a Japanese style roof that could then form the basis of my foundational shapes.

Ultimately the spiral from my roof ensured that id have a rectangular base, and from there, I thought the Roman columns would add a certain "Je ne c'est quois".

I'm pretty happy with the end result; however, I will definitely keep working at it to make the shapes and styles more cohesive.
